BARK Air Launches Innovative Airline for Dogs
Traveling with pets has always posed challenges, but a new initiative is set to transform the way we travel with our furry companions. BARK, the renowned dog brand known for its toys, treats, and gifts, has announced the launch of BARK Air, the world’s first airline designed specifically for dogs. This groundbreaking service aims to cater to the unique travel needs of our canine friends and their owners.
What is BARK Air?
On April 11, BARK revealed their partnership with a jet charter company to roll out this innovative airline. According to BARK, “BARK Air is the world’s first air travel experience designed specifically for dogs first, and their human companions second, enabling them to travel together comfortably and conveniently.”
Streamlined Booking Process
In a bid to make travel as stress-free as possible, BARK Air has developed a user-friendly booking process. Here’s how it works:
- Upon booking, pet owners (referred to as “hoomans”) will be contacted to provide their dog’s details and travel plans.
- On travel day, there will be no need for crates or TSA checkpoints. Owners and dogs are encouraged to arrive at the airport 45 minutes to an hour before their flight for a seamless check-in process.
Comfortable In-Flight Experience for Dogs
BARK Air prioritizes the comfort and well-being of canine passengers. The cabin is designed to be calming and stress-free, featuring:
- Pheromone diffusers
- Music
- Warm lavender-scented refreshment towels
- Comfort amenities to help dogs settle in during the flight
Additionally, each dog will receive a ‘just in case’ bag filled with calming treats, leashes, poop bags, and more. Onboard, dogs will enjoy BARK-branded treats and beverages of their choice.
BARK’s Commitment to Pet Travel
Recognizing the many challenges associated with dog travel, BARK has spent years advocating for accessible flying options. The company shared, “We decided to build the solution ourselves”, indicating their commitment to transforming travel for dog owners.

Flight Destinations and Pricing
BARK Air currently offers both one-way and round-trip flights to three destinations:
- London via Stansted Airport (STN)
- New York via Westchester County Airport (HPN)
- Los Angeles via Van Nuys Airport (VNY)
Premium flights start at $6,000 and can be booked through BARK Air’s website. The inaugural flight is scheduled to depart from New York on May 23.
